Key information for decision makers regarding
upgrading to
Xerox
DocuShare 6.5.2
Xerox has recalled Patch 6 for DocuShare 6.5.0 and
6.5.2. It's recommended that you watch for
Patch 7 which should arrive sometime around year-end
or the first week of 2010. The DocuShare User
Group site collection for Downloads will have this
once it's available.

Xerox urges you to not upgrade from earlier versions
of DocuShare until Patch 7 can be installed
immediately afterward.
It's also anticipated that DocuShare 6.5.3 will be
available in late January. This new release
will have additional scalability options that may be
beneficial to sites with more than 5 million
documents, especially those in which much or most of
the content is indexed for full-text search.
We'll relay information when this is available as it
appears that many of you do not receive such
announcements directly from Xerox.
DAVupDoc 3.2
accommodates DocuShare custom objects
You can now clone document objects and add
properties to support unique documents types for
invoices, POs, orders, etc. and upload them using the
latest version of DAVupDoc. Any file type can
be used including PDFs, Tiffs, Word, and Excel
documents. You'll likely find this most useful
when using DAVupDoc in conjunction with your data
capture software, such as ABBYY FlexiCapture or Kofax
Ascent Capture. Export your data to CSV or
tab-delimited format to use with the template you
setup using the graphical interface in DAVupDoc to
determine where your files belong and what metadata
should be applied to them. New collections are
created as needed. Both standard scripted mode
and the new content intake mode are supported.
For more information on DAVupDoc 3.2 look to our
page on
CriteriaFirstWare for the datasheet and download
the trial for the full documentation. Be sure
to read the Introduction and Operational
Considerations sections. A VBScript is
available at no additional charge to run this in
command-line batch mode.
